Joburg Water officials were a no-show on Thursday afternoon at a planned meeting with community leaders from Westbury and Coronationville, intended to provide updates on solutions to the areas' ongoing water woes.
Officials from Mayor Dada Morero’s office who honoured the engagement did not give reasons why they arrived without representatives from the water utility, as had been promised.

Joburg Water did not weigh in on Thursday's scheduled meeting in a written response to EWN. Instead, the utility assured that the installation of a new pipeline would be completed soon in the areas to bolster the water supply.
Frustrated community leader Sainy van Zyl said the meeting was supposed to be an opportunity to hold Joburg Water accountable.
"We felt that it is futile to have that meeting because the most important entity was not there, because we were all there waiting for Joburg Water feedback," van Zyl said.
