An Oudtshoorn community leader says a week after the body of a missing local woman was found, her loved ones are still seeking answers.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held in the Klein Karoo town on Tuesday in memory of Janine Stander.
The 39-year-old mom of three was reported missing by her family on the 18th of September.
Last week, police were dispatched to a section of a canal between Oudtshoorn and Dysselsdorp after a member of the public spotted her body in the water.
The circumstances surrounding her death are not yet clear.
Oudtshoorn community leader, Leon Campher, said the aim of Tuesday's service was to support Stander's family and pray for clarity.
"Up until now, we haven't had any feedback from the police saying if there was foul play, if she has been murdered before she went down that canal."
