Helicopter deployed as Camps Bay fire smoulders near 12 Apostles

Firefighters are battling a smouldering blaze near the Pipe Track in Camps Bay as strong winds sweep down the slopes of the 12 Apostles mountain range.

An estimated 50 firefighters are attending to the fire near Hely Hutchinson Avenue in Camps Bay.

Heavy smoke can be seen smouldering just above the Pipe Track near Hely Hutchinson Drive. A helicopter has arrived from George to assist firefighters in dousing the blaze.

Multiple hiking trails in the surrounding area have been closed to the public.

A resident who spoke to EWN said they have not received any evacuation orders and have been informed that the fire is under control.

There are no visible road closures in the area, except for Hely Hutchinson Drive, which has been closed to the public.
