The African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Task Team (PTT) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has attributed the party's poor electoral performance in the province to internal factionalism.
The interim party leaders were gathered in Durban for a political school session, where they worked to formulate a strategy for the party's rebuilding efforts. The meeting focused on key challenges facing the ANC in KZN as it attempts to reclaim lost constituencies ahead of next year’s elections.
KZN ANC Convenor, Jeff Hadebe, was forthright about the party’s internal struggles and the resulting public reaction.
"The organisation remains paralysed by factions," Hadebe said, adding, "The people lost confidence in the ANC—this has been clearly expressed in the embarrassing decline in electoral [support] in the last election."
Despite the challenges, Hadebe stated the party is resolute in addressing the issues and rebuilding public trust.
"However, we are determined that comrades should not be afraid to speak truth to each other and never seek to deceive the public," he concluded.
