CAPE TOWN - As part of Heritage Month, South African artist Johnathan Schultz has launched a fingerprint art exhibition at the Homecoming Centre in the District Six Museum.
The installation explores themes of South African identity and resilience, with Schultz drawing inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s fingerprints, taken from his arrest warrant.
Schultz said that the series is not only a reflection on South Africa’s complex history, but also an invitation for personal introspection.
"Where society is at in a whole worldwide, there's this real need for the themes of identity, resilience and you know forging our own path forwards there's been a breakdown in society.” Schultz said.
