JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 alert for severe thundershowers in several parts of the country.
Storms are expected to hit parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal, with storms expected to begin on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services are urging the public to exercise caution, as the inclement weather may lead to dangerous conditions.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said heavy downpours could result in localised flooding and difficult driving conditions.
"Remember that with severe thunderstorms, you can expect heavy downpours that lead to localised flooding, a possibility of damaging winds as well as the possibility of hail over these areas."
