JOHANNESBURG - The family of slain musician DJ Sumbody said Wednesday’s court ruling denying his alleged killer bail has sent a strong message to other killers.

The Alexandra Magistrates Court ruled that Sandton businessman Katiso Kt Molefe failed to prove exceptional circumstances to warrant his bail.

Last month, Molefe was arrested for being the alleged mastermind behind the musician’s murder whose real name was Oupa Sefoka.

He was later also linked to the murder of another musician, Hector Buthelezi, who was known as DJ Vintos.

The Sefoka family lawyer said they are extremely happy about Molefe remaining behind bars.

"It’s sending a clear message to murderers to hire syndicates that there will be justice – there will be accountability. We are of the opinion that a lot more people will be able to come forward confidently, knowing that they themselves won’t be put at risk."
