Double fatal taxi shooting rocks Marlboro

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting in Marlboro, north of Johannesburg, that has left two people dead.

One of those killed is believed to be a high-ranking official of the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand Taxi Association.

A bystander told Eyewitness News they saw a high-speed chase before shots were fired. The eyewitness was working at a car wash at the intersection of Viola Road and 4th and 8th Street when the incident occurred.

The witness described what looked like a targeted hit.

"I saw many cars chasing the one Audi vehicle and then they started shooting from all sides, and then they drove off and then the Audi crashed into the truck."

Just down the road from this scene, another marked vehicle belonging to a security company is being processed by police, with the deceased victim yet to be removed from the vehicle.

Roads remain closed around the area as police continue their investigation.
