JOHANNESBURG - Two suspects are expected to appear before the Athlone Magistrates' Court on Monday after being arrested for armed robbery.
Police made the arrests at the weekend while patrolling in Gugulethu, Cape Town.
One suspect who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm was nabbed after officers were approached by a man who had just been robbed at gunpoint.
Police spokesperson Frederick C. Van Wyk said another suspect was found with a knife and the victim’s cell phone.
“The two suspects, aged 16 and 23, were arrested for armed robbery, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of stolen property. They were detained at Gugulethu SAPS and will make their court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court today.”
