JOHANNESBURG - Acting Minister of Police Firoz Cachalia is urging the public to assist authorities with information that could help track down Jabulani Moyo, the suspect accused of killing two detectives during an escape from custody.
The officers were allegedly shot and killed on Friday, while they were transporting Moyo back to prison after a court appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on a business robbery charge.
Cachalia has strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a brazen act of violence against the state.
Police Ministry spokesperson Kamogelo Mogotsi said all available resources had been deployed to ensure Moyo was found and re-arrested.
"The National Commissioner of Police, General Fannie Masemola, has deployed maximum resources to track down and apprehend the suspect, Jabulani Moyo. We condemn this brazen act of violence in the strongest possible terms. An attack on the police is an attack on the state."
