JOHANNESBURG - ActioSA is reconsidering its participation in the National Dialogue after the withdrawal of key foundations and public frustration over the facilitation of the event.

The party said it cannot support a platform that risks becoming a government-directed exercise without meaningful reforms.

In a statement released on Friday, foundations including the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation pulled out of the dialogue.

They cited the process as rushed and that there was no clear approved budget as some of their reasons to withdraw.

The foundations said the dialogue, initially intended as a citizen-driven initiative, has shifted towards government control, undermining its credibility and impact.

ActionSA said the process risks becoming a mere window-dressing exercise than delivering real change.

The party urges an evaluation to determine whether the National Dialogue can truly deliver meaningful reforms or if it’s simply a government-led platform to create an illusion of engagement.
