CAPE TOWN - Three suspects arrested for attempted murder and kidnapping during a routine traffic stop appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The trio was nabbed by a metro police officer on Sunday morning, after the officer spotted a minibus taxi driver skipping a red light at the intersection of Jakes Gerwel Drive and Morgenster Road.
Metro police spokesperson, Ruth Solomons, said the officer stopped the taxi and while talking to the driver, a man covered in blood jumped from the car and collapsed nearby.
Solomons said that after handcuffing the driver, two more men with their hands covered in blood also exited the taxi.
"The driver of the taxi claimed that the victim had broken into his home. The suspects appeared in court on Tuesday, 29 July. They have been remanded in custody until their next appearance in court."
