CAPE TOWN - Baboon safety is in the spotlight again after a video showing a baboon being killed went viral recently.
The incident reportedly happened earlier in July, in Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape.
Animal activists are planning a march from Simon's Town to Boulders Beach on Saturday.
Samantha Hodgson, co-founder of Baboon Watch Western Cape, said they’re calling for humane solutions for baboon population management.
"We want, first of all, the general public to know that the baboons belong to every one of us and these baboons are being systematically killed and one day, what is going to happen is our kids are going to go to zoos to see the baboons because they are killing them."
