CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has confirmed that its criminal complaint against Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu is now under investigation.
The party laid the complaint at the Cape Town Central Police Station a week ago in terms of the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament Act.
It claimed that Mchunu lied to the House when he said he did not know businessman Brown Mogotsi, who has been linked to corruption within the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The party has also laid a complaint against Mchunu with Parliament’s ethics committee for breaches of the Code of Ethics.
DA deputy chief Baxolile Nodada said the party was informed on Tuesday that a lieutenant colonel has been assigned to the case.
“Senzo Mchunu, like all other South Africans, must abide by the laws of the country, and where laws are broken, criminal investigations must follow. Misleading Parliament, lying, and fraudulent cover-ups cannot be tolerated from ANC [African National Congress] ministers. They are serious offences. Parliament is a structure to which the executive must account honestly and truthfully.”
