JOHANNESBURG - A distraught family from Pennyville, Soweto is begging Gauteng police to release their loved one's remains from the pathology clinic so that they can bury him.

Reitumetse Tikiso’s burnt car was found on the N17 between Rosettenville and City Deep under a bridge on 13 December with human remains in the boot.

Mathota Tikiso, the alleged deceased's sister, said they had been waiting for DNA results to identify who was in Reitumetse's car since December and had yet to receive anything from the police.

Mathota received a devastating call from Reitumetse's twin brother, Boitumelo in the early hours of 13 December.

The family then went to where the car was and collected the remains they believed to be their brother's.

Since then, Boitumelo's family has been left wondering what the outcomes of the DNA results were and whether those remains belong to their brother.

The family said they have had no joy with the police.

"So some of them were kind of, I don't know, I should say rude or what. One of them even threw a hand at them and said, the DNA results might just even take about three months, or six even, you know, throwing a hand while saying that, as if he couldn't care less how long it would take."

Mathota said all they asked for was the chance to say their final goodbyes to their brother and nothing more.
