JOHANNESBURG - The murder case witness, who was killed outside the Lenasia Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning has been identified as Ashwin Mouwers.
Mouwers, from Eldorado Park, was expected to testify alongside another witness in connection with a murder committed in Eldorado Park in 2021.
The trial was expected to commence on Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, Ashwin Mouwers and another witness were smoking outside the Lenasia Magistrates Court when two suspects suddenly appeared and began firing shots at the pair.
Mouwers tried to evade the gunfire but slipped and fell.
The two suspects then approached Mouwers and shot him several times at point-blank range, before fleeing the scene.
Mouwers and the other witness, who escaped unharmed, were expected to testify in a 2021 Eldorado Park murder case that was set down for trial on Tuesday.
EWN understands that as part of the investigation into Mouwers’ murder, police are looking at the accused who Mouwers was set to testify against.
It is understood that the accused’s cell phone was seized after the shooting for investigation purposes.
