JOHANNESBURG - Rand Water is planning a 24-hour water shutdown for the City of Tshwane, effective from 25 to 26 January.
According to the utility, the planned repair work will be carried out on its pipeline, which affects its Palmiet system that supplies water to the Klipfontein, Brakfontein, and Haartbeeshoek reservoirs.
The city said residents’ meters will experience low to no water supply and has urged residents to store enough water for household purposes during this time.
The city said, where possible, it plans to fill all reservoirs before the shutdown starts, but the planned repair work may lead to disruptions.
“However, the water supply may be interrupted during the repair period, and residents are therefore urged to use water sparingly,” said city spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
Areas such as Atteridgeville, Bakenkop, Brakfontein, Clifton, Lotus Gardens, Soshanguve, and Winterveld are some that will be affected by the planned shutdown.
The city said technicians will ensure that the city’s water sources are operating optimally during that period.
