DURBAN - Two suspects in the murder case of rapper Kiernan Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello Motsoane are set to re-apply for bail on Wednesday based on new information.
In May last year, the Durban Magistrates Court denied bail to all the five men accused of killing the pair.
Months later, two of the five suspects said they had new evidence that they wished to use and apply for bail.
On 15 May last year, Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo ruled that it would be reckless to grant the five men accused of killing Forbes and Motsoane bail.
Hlatshwayo also ordered that the group had a case to answer to.
“In the circumstances, it is [the] finding of this court that there is a case for the applicants to answer, it is the finding of this court it would be reckless and irresponsible to allow the applicants on bail. It is, therefore, the finding and order by this that in the circumstances bail is refused for all five accused.”
However, two of the five suspects: Mziwethemba Gwabeni, the alleged mastermind behind the hit, and the alleged spotter, Lindokuhle Ndimande, want to re-apply for bail.
Eyewitness News understands that the pair says their businesses are affected as they are kept behind bars.
The matter is returning to the Durban Magistrates Court.
