CAPE TOWN - African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President Paul Mashatile has reiterated the call for the government to intervene in what he described as poor service delivery in Cape Town's townships.

Mashatile spoke in Khayelitsha on Tuesday during an ANC door-to-door campaign before its birthday rally this weekend.

This also comes as the party celebrates its 113th anniversary on Wednesday.

He expressed shock at the lack of service delivery in the township, claiming the Democratic Alliance (DA) government wasn't servicing disadvantaged communities.

He said it's time the national government intervenes to salvage the situation in Cape Town townships.

“These are our people. We are going to come here, and we are going to ensure that we address their challenges. The national ministers are here, and we told them not to wait for the provincial government.

“If they are not addressing challenges of these people, you must come all the way here and help our people. That’s what we are going to do.”
