CAPE TOWN - The fifth and final suspect in the Lusikisiki massacre has been arrested.
Eastern Cape police said the 20-year-old was traced to a bus in Qonce, while he was on the way to Cape Town on Sunday.
The arrest follows the capture of four other suspects, three of which were apprehended at a house in Port Shepstone in October last year. The fourth suspect handed himself over to authorities.
The group is believed to be responsible for the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of 18 family members at two homes in Nyathi village, Ngobozana, in September.
Eastern Cape Police Spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa said the 20-year-old wouldappear in the Lusikisiki Magistrates Court on Monday.
"When searching the bus, they found the 20-year-old male who was the only outstanding suspect in the Lusikisiki mass shooting. He was immediately arrested and will be charged accordingly."
