Firefighters in the Western Cape had their hands full over the festive season

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town said firefighters attended to 155 medical and trauma incidents, as well as 297 motor vehicle accidents and 124 pedestrian-vehicle accidents, in the past three weeks.
Mayco member for Safety and Security JP Smith also lauded the city's fire and rescue services for assisting in the delivery of five babies during the same period.

“The Mfuleni and Hout Bay fire stations had two births apiece, while the fifth [a twin] was born during a callout in Gugulethu."
Smith said this shows firefighters' expertise goes beyond firefighting.
"Congratulations once more to everyone involved in the births over the past few weeks. It would give me great joy to see at least one of these newborns in a firefighting uniform in the future."
