JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party (SACP) has reiterated its dissatisfaction with the inclusion of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in government.

It said it remains disappointing that neo-liberal ideologies and policies have infiltrated the State.

The party made the remarks in its year-end statement, detailing some of the major political highlights of 2024.

The SACP has firmly rejected the inclusion of the DA in the Government of National Unity (GNU), believing the party's presence in government will undermine the gains of democracy.

The communists have since decided to contest the 2026 local government elections independently to show their dissatisfaction with the ANC's decision to govern with the DA.

In its year-end statement, the SACP accused the DA and its backers of having a hidden agenda to control the country's policies to benefit a few South Africans.

The party believes the DA’s inclusion in government will lead to the privatisation of State-owned institutions and handing over essential services such as railways and electricity to the private sector.

The SACP has listed the GNU as a major political highlight in 2024.
