JOHANNESBURG - A local education activist believes that teacher wellness should be more of a priority for the ministry of basic education.

It is due to increase by 13.4% in 2025.
Education commentator, Hendrick Makaneta, believes that while concerns of affordability have been taken into account, the scheme's decision to increase fees reflects the rising costs of healthcare in the country.
"It is very much critical that public servants have access to a reliable medical aid scheme that can adapt to these challenges. As we work towards improving the quality of education in South Africa, we must also advocate for the holistic well-being of all our educators."
