Johannesburg City Power has assured customers that it is working around the clock to restore electricity to several areas across the city.

The utility stated that persistent wet weather conditions are currently affecting restoration times and has urged customers to remain patient.

On Wednesday, the entity reported that it attended to just under 3,000 calls logged by customers amidst the harsh weather conditions.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena emphasised the importance of load management during this period:

"Please use electricity sparingly and switch off appliances during outages. Restoration remains a priority for City Power, and we thank customers for their patience as we continue working to restore the supply to all the residents of Johannesburg."
