CAPE TOWN - The case against two men linked to the Site C barbershop mass killings will resume in the New Year for a regional court date.

Athule Mtsha and Sithisa Masiko appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on Thursday, facing four counts of murder and 11 counts of attempted murder.

They are accused of shooting up Mzwa's Barbershop in June, killing four people, including three children.

They were granted bail in July and both maintained their innocence, claiming that the police arrested the wrong people.

The pair previously told the court through their lawyers they were nowhere near Site C at the time of the shootings on 8 June.

Masiko's tracker attached to his white minibus taxi, which police believe was the one identified by witnesses, showed it was not in Site C at the time of the shooting.

Mtsha's lawyer previously told the court that video footage and cellphone records would show his client was in Brackenfell at the time.

ANOTHER BARBERSHOP SHOOTING

Meanwhile, the Harare Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Khayelitsha said the three boys that were shot and wounded at a Barbershop in the area were not in a critical condition.

Western Cape police did however confirm a fourth victim, aged 12, was declared dead on the scene.

This comes after three gunmen stormed the barbershop at Bukwayo Street and started shooting at the four boys on Wednesday.

According to the Harare CPF, three of the victims between the ages of nine and 13 years are recovering in hospital.

Provincial police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said no arrests had been made in the Harare mass shooting incident.
