DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli will on Sunday launch the provincial implementation plan for HIV, TB, and STIs.

The launch comes as the country marks World AIDS Day.

Ntuli will lead the commemoration event in Richards Bay in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.

KwaZulu-Natal has the second-highest HIV prevalence in the country.

The KwaZulu-Natal government will address residents under the King Cetshwayo District about HIV and AIDS.

The province has for the longest time battled with the epidemic.

Nearly 2 million people are living with HIV in the province.

Ntuli said government was committed to fighting HIV and AIDS.

Ntuli is also expected to address the ongoing health crisis to promote screening, testing, and treatment adherence for HIV.

He has also flagged the stigma and discrimination around people living with HIV and AIDS as one of the issues that really need to be addressed.
