Mashatile was answering questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Thursday on a range of issues from the economy to centralising strategic SOEs.

"People only think of township economy and they think spaza shops. We want real activities, manufacturing activities that must take place in our townships, small manufacturing sectors that we saw in the past."
