CAPE TOWN - It's almost that time again for the annual Street Festive Lights Switch-On and concert in Cape Town.

The iconic event, which is in its 55th year, is scheduled to take place on 1 December.

The City of Cape Town said it's ready to kick off the festive holiday season and welcome summer in spectacular fashion.

The municipality said 2024’s event promises a stellar line-up of performances, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said a brand-new competition had also been added to the festivities.

He said the event was more than just a celebration of the festive season but a celebration of Cape Town's people.
