CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has announced a draft for its new local spatial development framework (LSDF) is ready for public comment.
A new plan to transform Cape Town's CBD into a more people-centered environment could see up to 50,000 extra people living in the inner city by 2040.
Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews said that the CBD was key to Cape Town's future resilience.
"We should use the area's existing characteristics to leverage this potential. The purpose of the LSDF is to strategically shape the CBD's future growth and development to guide decisions about land use development, density, transportation and urban design."
Andrews has urged the public to have their say on the proposed plan.
"I invite residents and all stakeholders to collaborate with us in refining this very important spatial plan."
The public comment form is available on the City of Cape Town's website at www.capetown.gov.za.
