JOHANNESBURG - Grammy Award winner Tyla will tour her own nation in December.

Tyla Laura Seethal, 22, also known by her moniker, Tyla, announced on social media that she will be returning home for her first headline gigs in December. She made this announcement alongside AnythingGoesSA and ShowtimeSA.

A live performance by Tyla is intended to be immersive, with some of her best hits, like Water, mixed in with new songs from her self-titled album, Tyla.

Meanwhile, Tyla has also been nominated for five South African Music Awards (SAMAs), making her the front-runner for the showpiece, which will be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on 2 November 2.

The hitmaker was nominated for several highly valued awards, such as Best Pop Album, Ukhozi FM Female Artist of the Year, SAMPRA Album of the Year, and SANTAM Newcomer of the Year. Her place as a burgeoning international star was further cemented when she and Travis Scott collaborated on the popular song Water, which also earned her a nomination for Best Collaboration.

Earlier this year, Tyla poured cold water on the inclination to limit African music when accepting the Moon Person Award for Best Afrobeats at the 2024 MTV VMAs in New York. She highlighted her pleasure in representing her continent.

"I know there's a tendency to lump all African artists under the umbrella of Afrobeats, so this is really special, but it's also bittersweet," Tyla remarked.
