With the funeral service underway, another family member has died.
As thousands of mourners braved the rain to join the Khambule family in bidding farewell to their loved ones, tragedy struck again.
An elderly family member had to be taken away by an ambulance as she required medical care during the funeral. Hours later, Eyewitness News learnt of her tragic passing.
KwaZulu-Natal acting Premier Thembeni Kamadlopha Mthethwa has also confirmed this to Eyewitness News.
Mthethwa said they want the police to speed up the process of arresting the gunmen who killed the seven members.
"What we are looking at is that they must be arrested."
It is still unclear what the cause of death was for the eighth person, but medics were called as she could not stop crying at the funeral.
