Busta Rhymes, Jason Derulo added to DStv Delicious Festival lineup

The two artists will slot into the space left by Janet Jackson, who withdrew due to her brother Tito's tragic death.

JOHANNESBURG - The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival announced on Thursday that Busta Rhymes and Jason Derulo will be the new headliners for the 2024 festival.

The event will be held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on September 21 and 22.

Following recent changes to the festival roster, including Janet Jackson's absence due to her brother Tito's tragic death, festival organisers were under pressure to ensure that attendees enjoyed their experience.

Busta Rhymes and Jason Derulo will bring their iconic hip-hop and pop energy to the stage on Saturday, September 21, promising memorable performances from two extremely celebrated performers.

Busta Rhymes is a prominent hip-hop artist known for his lightning-fast lyrical delivery and spectacular concerts.

With 12 Grammy nominations, several platinum albums, and singles including Woo Hah!!, Got You All in Check, Break Ya Neck, and I Know What You Want, Rhymes has worked with famous performers including Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson.

His influence dates back decades, but his ability to remain relevant across generations solidifies his place as one of hip-hop's most dynamic artists.

Jason Derulo is an international pop sensation known for his infectious hits and impressive stage presence. Derulo has ruled the charts with over 200 million records sold globally and many Platinum-certified singles since his 2009 debut with Whatcha Say.

Thandiswa Mazwai, who recently published her album Sankofa, is still scheduled to perform on Saturday.

Jill Scott, an international Grammy Award-winning music artist, will continue to headline the Sunday, September 22 performance, with leading local headliners such as Sjava and the Soweto Gospel Choir. 

This year's DStv Delicious Festival will also include the 30 Years of Creative Freedom Tribute Show, hosted by the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture.

The performance will pay tribute to legendary South African musicians whose contributions to the arts helped shape the country's soundtrack.
