SA Weather Service issues warning for fires across the country
The weather forecaster says strong winds coupled with dry conditions are likely to exacerbate the impact of veldfires in parts of the country.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned more provinces to be on high alert amid a high fire danger warning this week.
The weather forecaster said strong winds coupled with dry conditions were likely to exacerbate the impact of veldfires in parts of the country.

The affected provinces include the Free State, North West, Northern Cape, the Eastern Cape province, and Limpopo.
SAWS forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela appealed to the public in these areas to be extra careful when starting open fires.
"Different things can start a fire in an area, but because we have strong winds, the wind factor assists in spreading the fire across the provinces - part of it is what is happening in Kwazulu-Natal currently."
