JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA is expected to meet with the African National Congress (ANC) over the City of Johannesburg on Thursday night amid growing concerns about the fate of the metro.
EWN understands that some in Herman Mashaba's outfit are growing impatient as it waits on the ANC to make true on some of the agreements recently reached between the two parties.
ActionSA has said it is willing to work with the ANC, taking on the role of oversight provided that Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda vacates office and that the R200 electricity surcharge fee is scrapped.
But Finance MMC Dada Morero told Times Live this week that getting rid of the levy was out of the question.
ActionSA's Herman Mashaba said that his party had not shifted from the demands its made to the ANC when it agreed to help get it into government in Joburg.
"For ActionSA to participate in the legislature, we cannot have Gwamanda as the mayor because this job is way above his competency."
Such a deal could not only aid the ANC in Joburg but make things slightly easier for its minority provincial government in Gauteng.
But EWN understands that some of those waiting on this deal have grown frustrated as they await Gwamanda's resignation.
This with ANC processes aimed at picking a candidate, also yet to be finalised.
The two parties are due to meet later on Thursday.
