JOHANNESBURG - Six witnesses have been lined up to testify in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)'s corruption case against former sports minister, Zizi Kodwa, and his co-accused, Jehan Mackay.
The pair appeared at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge earlier on Tuesday, facing state capture-related corruption charges.
Kodwa is accused of accepting bribes from Mackay, who headed tech giant EOH, in return for government contracts between 2015 and 2016.
ANC MP Zizi Kodwa’s legal team has asked the State for further information related to his corruption case in preparation for trial.
Kodwa is scheduled to return to court on 21 August for a pre-trial conference and to receive the additional information his lawyer requested from the NPA.
Presiding Magistrate Philip Venter said that until then, Kodwa and his co-accused Mackay should stay clear of the listed State witnesses.
"Please refrain from making contact with those listed witnesses. If, for whatever reason, they come across your path, please avoid them and walk away for the time being under the circumstances."
While Kodwa and his co-accused have maintained their innocence, the NPA believes it's got a strong case the pair.
