Almost 30 areas in the Southern Suburbs, including Grassy Park, Steenberg, Marina Da Gama, Lavender Hill, Plumstead, and Wynberg, are affected. Water tankers have been stationed at least eleven locations.
Badroodien said work continued at the five sites overnight, each at different stages of progress, with teams also assessing existing pipes and carrying out additional repairs, welding, and modifications, as needed.
“We had had some challenges early in the morning relating to safety concerns, but this was quickly resolved by our colleagues at Safety and Security.
“Additionally, at our tanker locations, there was order, lines were short, and this is as a result of people heading our call to please store as much water as possible prior to the shutdown.”
The operation is set to be completed on Wednesday.
