PRETORIA - Some South Africans who witnessed the Presidential inauguration on Wednesday say they hope Cyril Ramaphosa's next five years are better than his last.
Ramaphosa was officially sworn in for a second five-year term as the country's number one citizen.
Heads of state, diplomats and government officials attended the momentous occasion alongside thousands of citizens who gathered on the lawns of the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
Thousands of people braved the blazing sun to see Ramaphosa get inaugurated for the second time.
The crowd was a mixture of elderly people, young adults and some pupils in school uniforms.
This is what they had to say about the past five years of Ramaphosa’s presidency and what they look forward to in the next five years.
“In the past seven years, the president has not created a lot of job opportunities. There’s a limited number of jobs available and people keep losing the ones they have. So hopefully the next five years he unlocks more job opportunities because people are tired of sitting at home,” said Percy Bangani.
Virginia Mabena said she believes in second chances. "What I know is nobody's perfect and we must always get a second chance to improve.”
Others expressed gratitude for his leadership in the past five years.
"Thank you Ramaphosa for being a president today I am happy to see him being inaugurated again," said Mary Modibane.
