Hiking routes under CT cableway to be closed amid maintenance - SANParks
Locals and tourists will not be able to use the cable car from the 15 July to 2 September.
CAPE TOWN - South African National Parks (SANParks) manager Megan Taplin says hiking routes directly under the Cape Town cableway will be closed while the cable car is undergoing major maintenance work next month.
Locals and tourists will not be able to use the cable car from the 15 July to 2 September.
Stores at the lower cableway station will also be closed during this period.
Taplin explained which hiking trails would be affected.
"From Kloof corner all the way down to Platteklip Gorge, all the trails leading up from those areas up until the top of Table Mountain will be closed. So, any trails that are coming from the Contour Path or from the Tafelberg road and from Kloof corner will be closed. That's really just for safety because there will be work that's being done on the cables overhanging in those areas, there'll be helicopters flying up and down."
