JOHANNESBURG - As political parties scramble to form a new government for the seventh administration, the Congress of the People (COPE) is continuing with its two-day meeting of what it called introspection following its dismal performance during the elections.
The party managed to only garner just over 30,000 votes during the polls, meaning it lost its two seats in the National Assembly.

Despite this, the party said it would be using the results as a chance to reposition the party for the future.
Following the announcement of the official election results, COPE leader Mosiuoa Lekota was one of the first opposition leaders to accept the outcome, despite the party’s dismal showing within the polls.
Lekota said the party welcomed the will of the people and the organisation would take this opportunity to learn.
The organisation’s meeting this weekend will assist it in deciding on its stance and course of action.
It said it would also use the meeting to map out strategies to navigate the current political developments in the country.
