JOHANNESBURG - Former PAC leader, historian and anti-apartheid lawyer Motsoko Pheko has died.
Former Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) president Narius Moloto confirmed to Eyewitness news that the struggle veteran passed away on Friday.
Pheko was 94 at the time of his passing.
The activist was born in Lesotho and he produced more than 30 books documenting South Africa’s history, politics and theology among others.
Pheko was also a member of Parliament serving in several portfolio committees, including foreign affairs, safety and security and justice and constitutional development.
Moloto paid tribute to the author and theologian and sent condolences to his loved ones.
"He has made his contribution, he has lived his life. We appreciate his contribution and our interaction with him. We learnt a lot from him. He was a highly principled person. Politically, of course, he was a character of his own."
