Service delivery challenges are foremost for incoming Ekurhuleni Mayor Xhakaza

JOHANNESBURG - Newly elected Ekurhuleni Mayor Doctor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza says addressing service delivery challenges in the embattled metro is top of his to-do list.
Xhakaza committed soon after being elected into office – unopposed earlier on Thursday.
Shortly after his election, he was sworn in as the mayor.

During his inaugural speech, Xhakaza noted critical service delivery areas that his office would pay attention to when he gets the ball rolling.
These include expediting water and electricity provision as well as maintaining the city’s roads.
“Those are the things that our people want for the most. Of course, there are also issues of infrastructure build that we also need to be focusing on.”
Despite some political differences, Xhakaza said all political parties must come on board to ensure efficient governance.
