Meyiwa trial: Sibiya describes police who arrested and detained him as ‘monsters’

JOHANNESBURG - The first man accused of Senzo Meyiwa’s murder described police who arrested and detained him as “monsters”, whom he was afraid of.
Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya is testifying against the admission of a confession statement that he signed in May 2020.

He told the court that he was tortured by police to sign the statement.
On Tuesday, State prosecutor Ronnie Sibanda questioned him on his apparent assault by police before he was taken for pointing out.
"To be in the company of police officers who are like lions, that on its own was scary. When you are arrested by police officers and there is not a single officer who wants to help you, they would all appear like animals and monsters to you."
Five men are being tried for Meyiwa's murder almost a decade ago.
Sibiya returns to the witness stand on Wednesday morning.
