SOUTH AFRICA - Political parties, celebrities and distinguished South Africans have paid tribute to rap megastar, Kiernan Forbes, following his tragic death outside a Durban restaurant on Friday.
Forbes's stage name was AKA.
The Economic Freedom Fighters said crime had spiraled out of control in the country, and the assassination of civilians had become the norm.
AKA's murder follows that of Pretoria-based Bacardi artist known, 'Vusi ma R5', who was laid to rest last weekend after he was shot dead. DJ Sumbody was also shot dead last year, hours before his all-white party in Pretoria.
The ANC said the South African music industry was all the poorer following AKA's death.
ANC spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, called on law enforcement to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of the murders were brought to book.
The DA also conveyed its condolences to the family and friends of Forbes.
DA spokesperson, Solly Malatsi urged South Africans to help find the people responsible for Forbes's his death.
“We kindly ask anyone with knowledge or information to assist the police in their search for the perpetrators. We wish to send our deepest sympathies to his family and his peers of the arts and culture fraternity,” she said.
