As learners return for the third term, the Department of Education and SAPS officials have launched raids on schools in Inanda.
Inanda is a crime hotspot in KwaZulu-Natal, according to Vangqa.
They launched unannounced raids at three high schools recovering dagga, cigarettes, and lighters.
These raids are part of the 'Safer Schools Protocol'.
Vangqa says statistics from the 2023/2024 financial years showed that there were 42 murders at schools and over 11,000 burglaries.

He says they are using SAPS data to target schools across the country where crime is high.
