DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) provincial government says safety measures are in place to ensure teaching and learning is not interrupted when disasters occur.
Weather-related disasters are common in KZN, and school buildings have been hard hit during previous storms.
In some cases, schools were destroyed by severe storms, rain and floods.
The KZN education department said it was working with disaster teams and would respond swiftly to any reported incidents.
And with less than 100 days to the final examinations, KZN Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka said they are ready.
“We have plans in place in case there are schools that might be affected by disaster. We are going to be deal with that working with national - we are certain that even if it happens, we will make sure that teaching and learning is not affected or disrupted."
