The prosecution in the trial of alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack on Wednesday cast doubt on the testimony of IPID's deputy provincial head for the Western Cape, Mario September.
September testified as a witness for Modack's defence related to IPID's investigation into top cop Charl Kinnear's murder in 2020.
Modack, who is on trial with 14 others, faces 122 charges, including the murder of Kinnear.
State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans questioned September about his visit to Goodwood Prison in June last year.

September said he was at the prison to consult with an inmate, who provided him with the identity of the shooter who allegedly killed Kinnear.
He told the court he was informed the shooter was a hitman for the 28s gang led by alleged underworld kingpin, Ralph Stanfield.
Wolmarans questioned September about whether he consulted Modack, who is being held at Goodwood Prison on the same day.
Wolmarans: "On the third of June, the day you saw Mr Abrahams, did you also see Mr Modack at Goodwood Prison?"
September: "I can't say. could be. I can't say."
September admitted he had consulted with Modack numerous times last year related to IPID's investigation.
