Emergency services responded to the crash in the early hours of Sunday, where two vehicles collided with five male occupants between them.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide,  following a fatal head-on collision on the M7 near Palm Ridge on Joburg’s East Rand.

Emergency services responded to the crash in the early hours of Sunday, where two vehicles collided with five male occupants between them.

Two people - a driver and a passenger - were declared dead at the scene.

Three others sustained injuries ranging from critical to minor and were treated on site before being transported to hospital.

Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesperson - Tikkie McDonald explained.

“All three patients were treated on scene by Gauteng Provincial Government Emergency Medical Services and transported to Thelle Mogoerane Hospital for further medical care. The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) is on scene, and a culpable homicide case will be registered.”
