The Pedal Power Association is calling for increased conviction rates of motorists who kill cyclists.

The association held a memorial ride-along as a tribute to cyclist Landon Le Grange, who was killed in a crash involving a minibus taxi earlier this month.

His wife Ann Marie Le Grange is also calling for justice and accountability.

Cyclists, together with Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku, gathered along Victoria Road in Bakoven, a popular route for cyclists.

The Pedal Power Association honoured Landon Le Grange just months after the previous memorial was held in honour of cyclist Idries Sherrif, who was killed on the same route by an alleged drunk driver.

Le Grange succumbed to his injuries in the ICU shortly before a surgery to repair his liver, and after losing his leg as a result of the accident.

His wife said that her family is stuck in grief, while drivers who are perpetrators often get to go home to their families.

"The ripple effect of his death has been immense, but sadly this is not the first time something like this has happened to a cyclist, and nothing has changed."
