A 45-year-old suspected drug dealer is set to appear in court after police seized drugs worth more than R2.7 million in Bellville, Cape Town.

He was arrested during a joint police and army operation in Delft on Monday.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said officers first found the suspect with 10 mandrax tablets.

He said further investigation led to a much larger drug haul in Stikland.

"The members were busy with stop and search operations in Buczana Street in N2 Gateway, in Delft, when they stopped and searched a silver Honda Civic vehicle and the occupant, and found 10 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be proceeds of crime in the vehicle."
