A 22-year-old scholar transport driver, charged with 14 counts of murder, is back before the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning for a continued bail application.
Ayanda Dludla was arrested earlier in 2026 following a deadly crash that claimed the lives of 14 learners.

Dludla was behind the wheel when his vehicle collided head-on with a side-tipper truck
At the time, it’s alleged he was attempting an illegal overtaking manoeuvre.
He also faces three counts of attempted murder and one count of reckless and negligent driving.
At his first court appearance, Dludla was met by a heavy media presence as the country reacted to a crash that claimed the lives of young schoolchildren in a matter of moments.
During his second appearance, his legal team told the court he was remorseful following the tragic incident.
The State requested a postponement to allow the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to finalise the appropriate charges, given the serious nature of the case.
The offences he faces fall under Schedule 5 and 6 of the Criminal Procedure Act, meaning he will have to provide compelling reasons if he is to be granted bail.
While not yet formally before the court, viral dashcam footage allegedly shows Dludla overtaking multiple vehicles before crashing into the truck.
The vehicle he was driving was also allegedly overloaded, with questions still lingering over its roadworthiness.
